Streamlining Your Quilting Business with Effective Project Management

Let’s talk about something that doesn’t usually get the same love as fabric pulls or a good foundation paper piecing tutorial - but totally should: project management.

If you're running a quilting business, you've probably juggled pattern deadlines, launch dates, collaborations, newsletters, quilt-alongs, and maybe even a shop full of products. And if you're anything like the creative folks I work with, you're probably doing most (or all) of it yourself. That’s a lot to keep track of, and without a system to support you, it’s way too easy for things to fall through the cracks.

Why project management matters in quilting businesses

I know “project management” sounds like something reserved for corporate offices with whiteboards and color-coded spreadsheets - but hear me out. Good project management is really just about giving your future self a break.

When you’ve got a clear system in place, you can stop asking yourself, “Did I already schedule that email?” or “Wait, when was I supposed to post about that bundle preorder?” You can stop searching through emails and notebooks for your launch plan from last year. And you can finally take an actual break from work without that low-key panic buzzing in the background.

What kinds of things can be managed?

Short answer: pretty much anything you’ve got going on in your business. Here are just a few examples:

  • Quilt pattern releases (testers, tech editing, marketing, shop listings… the whole shebang)

  • Quilt-alongs and SALs (so many moving parts!)

  • Email marketing schedules

  • Blog post planning

  • Social media content

  • Shop updates or restocks

  • Events or workshops

Having all of this mapped out in one place lets you stop keeping it all in your head, and start getting more done with less stress.

But isn’t it a lot of work to set up?

Sure, it takes a little effort to get going. But just like trimming your HSTs or staying organized while cutting fabric - it’s worth it. Setting up a system that works for you doesn’t have to be fancy. It just has to make your life easier.

And here’s where I come in. Helping quilters and creative business owners get organized is my jam. If you’re not sure how to even begin mapping out a project timeline or if every platform you’ve tried leaves you more overwhelmed, I can help you build a system that’s easy to stick with - and maybe even a little fun to use.

TL;DR

You’re doing big things with your quilting business. Having a project management system is like having a second brain (or a very organized friend) that keeps everything running behind the scenes. It frees up mental space, reduces last-minute panic, and lets you focus on the creative work you actually want to be doing.

And if all of this sounds amazing but also like something you don’t have the capacity to set up yourself? That’s what I’m here for.

Let’s get your business organized so you can get back to what you love most — making beautiful things and sharing them with the world.
